- Welcome to the dungeon of the Autoblog office. We're in the basement, where we park our cars to keep them out of the snow. Today we have something super special, a little pricey. Check it out. Bentley Continental GT V8, First Edition.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

First official snow that's sticking outside the Autoblog office. And most of our cars, we have summer tires on them. I'm pretty sure our Jaguar has them. The new Supra has them. My car does.

- So does mine.

- So does yours.

- Yeah, I got to get those changed. Whoops.

- Oh, hey, there he is.

- Oh, [INAUDIBLE]

- With the FTV.

- What a terrible drive in today.

- Hey, so what are we filming today?

JOHN SNYDER: We're filming the Bentley Continental GT V8.

- Have you rode in it yet?

JOHN SNYDER: No, I haven't. I was going to take it home last night, but we got like a foot of snow in Ann Arbor.

- What I'm curious to know is how much this thing costs.

JOHN SNYDER: So it starts about 220.

- 220?

JOHN SNYDER: For the--

- OK.

JOHN SNYDER: For the GT. And then this one has-- it's a Special Edition, so I think it's close to 280.

- OK.

JOHN SNYDER: I can look that up for you.

- And there it is. Parked nice and perfectly in our garage, still clean. Last time I looked at this, last week, it seemed like the paint color changed depending on which angle you looked at it. If you look at it from an angle--

JOHN SNYDER: Yeah.

- --it kind of changes colors a bit.

JOHN SNYDER: Color changer.

- Yeah.

JOHN SNYDER: It's called Damson. I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right. Damson. Right, as in, damn son, damn son. Oh, wow, these [INAUDIBLE] lights.

- Oh, man, it's in color too.

JOHN SNYDER: I know, that's--

- You don't see that very often. Oh--

JOHN SNYDER: And look at this, a little seat belt comes right out to greet you.

- Mine doesn't.

JOHN SNYDER: Are you sure?

- Yeah, mine didn't. Maybe you have to start it.

JOHN SNYDER: Open your door.

- OK, hold on. Nope, mine does not. This looks really cool in low light right now, this line of color.

JOHN SNYDER: Yeah.

- So, if you--

JOHN SNYDER: Hold on, we should probably--

- What?

JOHN SNYDER: That's not too incredibly loud. Man, this is a big car.

- Yeah, it is. You're good on this side.

JOHN SNYDER: OK.

- You've only put 38 miles on this thing. And how many miles do we have on-- are we allowed?

JOHN SNYDER: 500.

- 500, that's it?

JOHN SNYDER: Yeah.

- Excuse me, but do you have any Grey Poupon?

JOHN SNYDER: But, of course.

Behind me is the 2020 Bentley Continental GT V8. This one is a First Edition. Let's take a look around the exterior. Of course, you've got the flying V. And notice 1919-2019. Bentley turned 100 years old this year. So, happy birthday, Bentley. I like this blacked-out grill, very solid, very sturdy. I see a lot of carbon fiber around the bottom.

This color is interesting. It's called Damson. And it almost looks like a sort of rich plum or wine color. It's almost like a purplish burgundy, which is pretty cool. The Special Edition has 22-inch black wheels on it. Giant brakes-- those are perhaps some of the biggest brakes I've ever seen on a car. It's got to have a lot of stopping power. This car weighs just a little over 5,000 pounds. So that's a lot of meat to haul down pretty quickly.

This is a special badge for the First Edition, the union jack with a little one on the inside of it. On the rear, again Bentley badge. You've got these quad tailpipes. Yeah, it's got this nice, little, just teeny, tiny, little lip spoiler here. Oh, that's how you open it. You press the B. I wasn't exactly sure.

Actually, a pretty big trunk. It's a Grand Touring car. But you could probably fit two of me in there. One other thing about the Bentley, I really like the details within the lights. You can see this sort of diamond pattern around the oval of the tail lamp. And I think that looks pretty cool. And there it is, a 4-liter, twin turbo charged V8, good for 542 horsepower, 568 pound feet of torque.

Let's take a look inside. Lots of nice materials, of course, in the Bentley. Excellent craftsmanship. Leather everywhere. I wonder how many cows it took to make this. Here, the seats, of course, the steering wheel, the dash is all leather. The headliner is leather, just everything. Really nice detail. I love the embroidered diamonds. Let's turn it on and see what comes to life. It's got this big engine stop-start button.

Now that's pretty cool. That just rotates. Yeah, right away, your hand is drawn to this gear shifter, that big B. That's actually what you press down to shift into gear. Got climate control adjustments right here, heated seats, ventilated seats. I'm not even sure what this does. Oh, it's a retractable spoiler.

These vents, the switch gear for the vents is super sturdy. It reminds me of a throttle in a small airplane. Right here, we've got our cup holders for our fancy beverages while we're Grand Touring around frosty Michigan. A little bit more storage, not a ton of storage, but better than nothing. As part of the First Edition, it's got the tread plates that you see when you first step in the vehicle.

You have this union jack number one First Edition badge, that has the same one on the Fender outside. Pretty elaborate way to close the vents, but it looks cool, and it feels cool. It's super sturdy. Everything here is very solid, very tactile. There's a palpable solid click, and it just sort of falls into place. Well, in front of me, we have this display that rotated around.

When we turn the car off, when you open the door, it disappears, and looks just like the rest of the dash, which is kind of cool. And very big color display. I don't know what this is mad about. It keeps beeping at me. Directly in front of me is the gauge cluster. And it's all digital. It sort of mimics the look of analog gauges. It has several drive modes. It has a sport mode. A Bentley mode, that is just the default. Comfort, and then custom, where you can individualize your settings.

And there's a screen button here. So if you don't want this screen distracting you while you're driving, there's a third display here. When the cars off, it's just a continuation of the dash, or there's the infotainment display, or there's this, where there's the temperature of outside, there is a compass, and there is a stopwatch so you can time your 0 to 60 runs.

Yeah, for $280,000 that this First Edition costs, you're getting a lot of-- a lot of really nice craftsmanship, a lot of nice materials, and a lot of space. Plenty of room for my legs. Very nice driver's seating position. Yeah, it's super comfy. I could spend a lot of time here, for sure.

So there you have it, the 2020 Bentley Continental GT V8, inside and out.

[ENGINE PURRING]

- So we have a blue Wrangler. We have another blue vehicle at the Autoblog office.

ZAC PALMER: I think I like this blue even more, actually.

- It's a blue week, but a good type of blue, because--
